Quality Gypsy Caravan Holiday in Switzerland

Why not spend a quality Gypsy caravan holiday in beautiful Switzerland?

Traveling with a horse-drawn Gypsy vardo in the beautiful rural landscape of the Swiss Midlands, between Jura and Alpes is an excellent opportunity to explore the magnificent "Napf" area around Gettnau in canton Luzern.

This is a great way to experience Swiss nature, hospitality and Swiss "laissez-faire". BTW, have you heard about this area's natural alluvial gold prospects? -- You could spend a day learning how to wash and search gold! And if you are lucky, you might see the well-known "Aplengluehen" at sunset.

Eurotrek travel agency specializes on adventure holidays in Switzerland. They offer a quality Gypsy caravan holiday package through the Napf area, in canton Luzern, half way between Zuerich and Bern near Lake Sur.

You have the choice to drive yourself or book a trek leader. They offer a 2-, 3- or 6-day-tour, which can be prolonged on a daily base, if you wish.

One person always walks beside the horse's head with a lead rope to travel safely during the trip. The daily distance is 10 -20 km on quiet agricultural and forestry roads. There will be an approx. 400 m height difference per day. This quality Gypsy caravan holiday is ideal for beginners and families with children over 6 years of age. If you book a 6-day-trip good fitness is an advantage.

What does a Gypsy Caravan contain?

Sleeps 4-5, table, gas stove (outside), BBQ, coolbox, cuttlery, washing-up box, 20-L water tank, heating, simple shower. You need only to bring your own sleeping bag.

Live close to nature for a few days, experience a slow-pace journey and have a barbeque or cook your meals right beside the vardo. Don't forget to taste real Swiss cheese and cook an original cheese fondue! At night sleep in the Gypsy caravan (fits 4 adults or 2 adults and 2-3 children) in a cosy sleeping bag and enjoy the fresh air of an unspoiled country side.

Day 1: Individual arrival and check in at 10.00 am at farm in Gettnau. Introduction and instructions on how to deal with the Gypsy caravan and the horse. Then short round trip and return to farm in Gettnau. You will spend the first night in the caravan on the premises of the farm.

Day 2 - Day 5: Discover the area of the Napf-region on your own with horse and vardo. In the morning of day 2 you can buy food for your catering off the farm or in Gettnau village. You can decide to barbeque or cook a meal for lunch just beside the vardo. At night you will arrive at selected farms to stay on their premises over night and sleep in the Gypsy caravan.

Last day: Last trip section, return horse and vardo, individual departure.

2-day-tour: You will spend the second day travelling with the horse-drawn caravan, return to the farm in Gettnau, return the horse and vardo. Individual departure.
